Blog 102: Bittersweet

I'm happy...and i'm sad. Disconcertingly, I'm more sad than happy.
Why disconcertingly?? here goes...

Well...India beat Pakistan in the Eden test a few hours ago...and although this Pak team isnt fit to hold a candle to some of their teams of yesteryears, its still an Indian win over Pak. I should be happy shouldnt I??

Damn! It was also the day of the Malaysian Grand Prix and Ferrari makhaoed BIG time. Schumacher managed only 7th while Barrichello didnt even finish the race!! What a monumental drop-off from last year! People like coulthard and fisichella, who last year seemed to be driving bullock carts instead of million dollar cars, have done far far better than Schumi.

Its disconcerting that schumi's loss means more to me than India's win. Anyways...maybe its just because schumi not winning...that too for two races on the trot....is kinda difficult to digest.

Most people dont even think of F1 as a sport...to them its just zzzom zooom cars going round and round in circles ...but for those who like F1, its addictive.

I started off with F1 in class 11 ...ppl in class used to talk abt it and it sort of caught on. Even before i saw my first race, i knew i was going to support schumi.
Dont ask me why...i dont remember!!

So one fine sunday i sit infront of the tv at 4.30PM IST, watch the whole of Raceday and finally when the race starts, one idiot crashes into schumi's car before they reach the first corner!!!

The thing abt schumi is...he is supremely confident. when he is abt to lap a car from behind, he does it with elan...naah...with arrogance. its like...the car ahead is constitutionally obliged to move away from the path then and there and let his royal highness pass. When a car tries to overtake him, he uses every trick in the book...and some from outside...to keep it behind him. his demeanor on the podium...during the prize distribution...will make it seem as if he owns it... he'll patronizingly pat the 2nd and 3rd spot guys...and wave to his fans during both the national anthems!!!
I'll write more on this some other time...for now...just hope that ferrari becomes ferrari again :)

P.S. an adage just came to mind...'win as if you are used to it. Lose as if u enjoyed it for a change'!!
