The following is a series of short stories. Any resemblance with any person, working or time-passing, is decidedly intentional.
Strangers in the dark
----------------------------
It was a dark and stormy night.
The moon was shining in its full beauty.
Wild wolves were howling their deepest emotions to the sky.
And me and Khandoi were thirsty.
Right.
So on Friday night, while Mangu, Khandoi, Mahe, Pkshit, me and Pandey were playing Literature, we felt thirsty.
Pretty natural, I'd say.
So me and Khandu thought we'd venture out and fill water from the aquaguard that our landlord had provided us.
Landlord.
Sounds such a feudally aristocratic name.
Anyways... so with the help of our Nokia flashlights, we found our way to the putative Aquaguard.
There it was.
An oasis in the midst of the burning desert.
A messiah for the thirsty travellers.
And camels.
Its value more than that of all the gold... and oil... buried in the sands around it.
But it didnt have a filter.
Right.
There it was, a mighty pipe bringing water in.
A mightier pipe throwing water out.
And in between the two, just a container of water.
Maybe they meant sedimentation when they said filtering.
Okay...
Putting our minds to full use, and resolving our hearts to a brave fight, we set forth.
Deciding to ask any nearby house with lights on for water.
Found one, two buildings away.
"Auntyji"
"Excuse me auntyji"
We'd heard a lady speaking into a phone and the TV was also on.
She removed the purdah.
Twas a lady of 27-28.
Auntyji?!
"Ummm... we live as paying guests down the lane and dont have any stable supply of water there. Could you please fill this bottle for us"
We tried to be our innocently charming best.
Chweet college kids... becharas... stuck in a shit hole.
She came out with a filled bottle of aquafina.
We emptied it into our bottle.
While her hubby stood there and chatted with us and gave us funda on where to get water from, she brought another bottle and told us to take it with us.
"Not an issue"
Thankew ma'm.
Twas 1 am at night.
[:D]
Repeated the procedure yesterday.
Another house.
Another 'auntyji'
We've decided to take bottles with us to our offices from today and fill them while coming back.
I've forgotten mine at home.
Another night.
Another house.
C'est la vie.
*sigh*
[:D]
Red handed
-----------------
Visited McD for the first time yesterday.
McVeggie burger rocks.
:)
Thought I'd blog about it.
Nothing bloggable happened.
Almost...
Had siwali/mathri yesterday night at 2 while mugging for a presentation I had to give today.
How're both connected?
Duhh...
Where dya think did the sauce come from?
[:D]
Arz hai
-----------
While me was mugging yesterday, Mangu was testing and giving funda on hindi language and literature.
He started with a poem... and I added these 4 lines...
Dil chahta hai tum abhi yahaan ho...
Koi kab tak khud se hi gungunaaye
Ahem
Arz hai...
Dil chahta hai tum abhi yahaan ho...
Koi kab tak khud se hi gungunaaye
Tum humein dekho, hum tumhe dekhein...
Kuch tum kaho, kuch hum farmayein
Waah waah... waah waah [:D]
A Houdini act
-------------------
After having roamed around all day yesterday and spent a fortune, we asked Shanks for a recommendation for a nice place to eat dinner within 50 bucks.
Financial management for dummies.
Shanks recommended Shanti Sagar.
Went there.
Checked out the menu card.
Three people mysteriously got phone calls on their cell and went out to talk.
The remaining three critically observed the stuff in the menu.
And then thought they'd go and check what was up with the first three.
Together all 6 crossed the road and took a bus home.

PS: Mea culpa, I forgot to mention two very monumentally vital pieces of info.
First: Shanks drove well.
Second: Shanks had his hair combed.
Third: [:P]

running around in the night looking for auntyjis isn't something that chweet kids do.
@ Mangu:
Good boy [:P]
And presentation peace hi tha... [:)]
@ Whoami:
Trust you to find ulterior motives and meanings in anything possible...
chi chi chi [-x
what chi-chi-chi ?? once you had realized she was only 27-28, you could easily have addressed her as didi. but no, you must call her aunty to force her to come out with all her wares to counter this 'aunty' tag !!
why else do you think she gave away one extra bottle?
anyways, try out the bisleri 20 liter packs. vixy used to do that last year, i think.
@ Whoami:
U reading Sigmund Freud by any chance?
And might have to resort to the bisleri pack formula if this carrying water from office thing doesnt work.
Angry Shanks:
bahhhhhh... nothing about my driving or combed hair or anything $!$!... but about my recommendation... and hey prices have prob increased now...when i was in school (in indiranagar) that place was peace for 50 bucks.
and in my defense ive been in jayanagar for the last 3 years! i could have told u many places in jayanagar...
financial management for dummies? bahhhh...
seems that banglore ki hava has brought Sunny Da to his best.. go on go on....
@ Angry Shanks:
:)))
Awwww... poor Shankie getting all ruffled up coz his hair wasnt mentioned [:D]
Dont u worry... I'll add a PS to the post [:P]
Koi nahin Shanks... life's tough... hota rehta hai [:P]
@ Tidu:
Jaroor jaroor [:)]

@ Anonymous:
Is this Shanks?
Hmmm... how about we all go to that place once again... and then maybe we'll try another method of ditching it [:P}

@ Sandy:
To jaldi aa jao yahaan... abhi Coorg and Kerela jaane ke plans pe work kar rahe hain... [:)]
And I do very much respect that lady... raat ke 1 baje she gave her own bottle to two complete strangers. Which, btw, we donkeys are yet to return. [:D]

@ Sandy:
Completely agree with Mangu [:(][:P]
@ Basant:
Haan... combed hair... sure shot Ripley's believe it or not case hai [:P]
And yeah... sure... will mention the time and everything else that'll happen then [:P]
Are you getting paid ? You hardly seem to mention work ! :p
@ :-)
U sure u'll be reading this if I mentioned work? [:P]
i thot pandey had plans for u. but this bottle-waali-aunty affair makes me believe otherwise. i think ikey might be giving u some competition in the pandey-and-his-nefarious-intentions department.
@ Whoami:
Have been able to keep Pandey at bay so far. Parikshit and Ikey share a room with him... dunno abt them [:P]
the three yahoo studs in a threesome ?? well, here's a golden opportunity for you to add to the devotional collection on the college lan.
@ Whoami:
Hmm... I dont really want to have the tag of being the one who put up the most makhau and useless and un-enjoyable and ewwwww-producing video of all time on the lan...
Ergo: naah [:D]
waah waah [:D]
dont u think ur hindi poetry skills hve improved ?
in quantity if not in in quality [:P]
@ Anonymous:

@ Prat:
