I finally got bored of having the same old food everyday. Have been having dosa for lunch and aloo paratha/sauce or dal/roti for dinner everyday of the vacations till now.
It was time for my kinda cuisine to take over!!!
Ever had mango sandwich?? Try this out...take bread, apply as little butter as u can but enough to cover the bread, put a mango slice on top and sprinkle some pepper. Tadaaaaa....thats my dear mango sandwich!! Had that for dinner today!! Went to tech ( and thankfully Naween agreed to this plan)...bought a mango and a half-loaf...and while he somehow ate the spicy chow of one of the shops there, i gleefully had my sandwiches :D:D
It got slightly soggy coz of the absence of butter( i guess) plus there was no pepper...but what the hell...i still loved it!!
I love this kind of 'alternate' food actually. Started out in class 6 coz my mom used to keep a touch ill and i and my sis would usually make something or the other for ourselves in the evenings. That opened a world of possibilities!! Would take any veg that was made in the morn and put it on bread and add some cheese, bake it and have it with sauce!! YUMMM
Then there were muri chats...my all time favourites!! Try this out sometime...muri, dhokla, chola (of chola batura), any sweet sabji ( cooked that is), curd (or even kadhi), chanachoor/ bhujia and imli. Its ethereal...its...its just... lip smacking mouth watering wish-it-would-never-finish stuff!! In fact...sumtimes when ppl came over to our place, we'd make this instead of any of the usual fare.
Nowadays, whenever we have the super special dinners in our hall, I make a mixture of rice and all the veges, cutlets etc that are there and have rumali roti with this mixture!!
Maybe i have a natural affinity for these medleys...i like quite a few of the remixes of old hindi songs that come up nowadays...if nothing else then just for the tempo of the song!!
Wonder what'll happen if this kinda taste spreads into my sartorial sense( whatever little i have of it)!!!
