Yahoooooooo!
Ferrari finally made it big yesterday at the canadian grand prix with schumi getting second and barri getting the third spot.
All through the race i was praying like anything that the front runners may bang against each other and retire from the race[:D]. Well...turned out...they didnt need each other to get out of the race...self dependence was the name of the game!
Alonso, Button, Fisichella and Montoya were all running infront of schumi and all managed to get themselves out of the race. Way to go guys..i always knew u had it in u!!
Oh and Trulli contributed his bit to Ferrari's benefit race...he crashed out of third place to make way for barri.
Not exactly the fairytale, bombastic, back-with-a-bang comeback...but well...14 points for Ferrari will be gladly accepted...thank u very much!
Had watched the entire race...or rather followed it, on Formula1.com...its such a suspense thriller waiting for the lap times to arrive on the screen. "Did he go faster?", " Did he overtake him?", " Have the front runners crashed out yet[:D]"??
F1 is in many ways like WWF...one season someone is on top...next season they are nowhere...and since we out here dunno how things go in the car and what developments the various teams do...we can only marvel in amazement how the friggin hell teams' fortune go a sea change from season to season. (WWF was a joke though...its like one day the Undertaker would be with McMahon, the next day he'd be on Kane's side and the third day he'd turn against both of 'em. )
I mean, three years ago when fisichella was with renault and Benetton was associated with it, the car was nowhere. It was in the same league as jordan and sauber. Fisichella himself was just-another-driver last year. Yeah they always praised him for his smooth driving blah blah...but gimme a break...he wud have been happy to polish schumi's shoes last year.
This year...damned idiot not only has landed himself the lottery of his life with renault's sterling performance, he thinks he is great enuf to say that schumi is a no-hoper. Man! the tides in the affairs of men...
Schumi has said he isnt retiring this season...and i completely vouch for that. He has the pace, he has the intensity...and yeah...he's a German [;)].
It wud have been one thing retiring at the end of last season. He would have bowed out with his head held high ...now, it'll be like Mike Tyson. Of course not the least bit that bad but still...to bow out with his head down would be a shame for schumi.
Coming to Tyson...some life that!
I once saw an Espn documentary of Tyson...and boy it was awesome. The arrogance and the finality with which he beat his opponents when he was in his prime...it was amazing.
There are two types of champions in my view...ones who show arrogance in their trade...and those whose trade shows their arrogance. Schumi and Tyson belong to the former...they come, they say, they conquer. Sachin and Sampras belong to the latter. They dont say. The staying unmoved, as if in a still frame, after hitting a cover drive...that is arrogance. The slamming authoritative ace after ace leaving the opponent wondering if at all he has a say in the proceedings...that too is arrogance.
Next race next week at Indianapolis...hope there is rain there...I'm sure Schumi wud barely mind the mild inconvenience [:D]!
